Carol is a lifelong learner and a National Board Certified Integrative Health and Wellness Coach(NBC-HWC), Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner (APRN), Radiologic Technologist (RTR), Endurance Athlete, Motivational Speaker, Professor at UVM and MOM to two beautiful children. Raised in the Midwest, Carol packed all of her belongings into one small car and headed EAST when she was 20 years young. Her life continues to revolve around opportunities and seeking the positive in all that surrounds her. A non-athlete at age 30, Carol learned to swim (after nearly drowning at age 12) , bought a bike, and began running (after being told she would never be able to run because of a hamstring injury). At age 50, she competed in the National Ironman Championships in Lake Placid, winning the National Title of #1 in the USA in the 50-54 age group. (swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, running 26.2 miles). Carol went on to compete in the World Ironman Championships in Kona in 2009, 2015, and 2022 placing 15th in the World in her age group. She’s completed over 37 marathons and more triathlons than she can count and as she says, “ she’s the ever ready battery that just keeps on ticking”.
Carol is passionate about health and wellness and as a National Board Certified Health Coach, she partners with her clients throughout their dance for self-discovery. As a masterful coach, she dances with her clients while helping them set appropriate, stage-specific goals and action steps. She helps her clients identify relevant skills to be applied for sustainable change in their lives. Carol supports her clients through lifestyle modifications by finding a more fulfilling and satisfying healthier way to be. Whether you are looking to lose weight, add exercise to your life, decrease stress, become better organized with your to do list, or simply finding more balance in your life, Carol will allow you the space and opportunity to work through your challenges. Her expertise in Orthopaedics, specifically sports medicine/trauma/the aging athlete enables her to offer additional feedback on how your body is reacting to your lifestyle. Her 40+ years in Orthopaedics and in teaching at UVM have enhanced Carol’s ability to listen more closely to her clients and empower her clients for a healthier self-care. As a Motivational Speaker, Carol shares her passion for fitness, and overcoming challenges through her light hearted stories and experiences that will leave you inspired as you sit in your seat. Carol is a dynamic speaker using laughter, reflection and her passion for helping others and fitness as she presents.
Carol has two beautiful children, Lex and Eliza, her pride and joy. She additionally has a charming grandmutt, Fern. She enjoys spending time with them in the outdoors, whether boating, hiking, skiing, or simply being together playing games, sharing stories, or laughing. Her partner, Rick and she live on Lake Champlain and find every opportunity to enjoy the lake and the mountains. Gardening, exercising, water activities, and travel keep them very busy.
